Private tutor in Centennial, CO
University of Denver - BA, Emergent Digital Practices
I became a tutor because I wanted to do whatever I could to help students who needed academic guidance. I personally know what it feels like to become frustrated because of school. I know what it is like to feel uncomfortable because the material covered in class is too difficult.I aim to help students become confident in themselves and their learning abilities. To me, what makes an excellent tutor is not someone who drills students, repeats instructions, or follows a readymade curriculum. An excellent tutor figures out a student's strengths and weaknesses. It is important to build up a student's confidence level by teaching to his or her strengths. Every student learns differently.I especially relate to this because I initially had a hard time learning and understanding, until I realized that I learn visually. After I understood my own strengths and weaknesses, I was able to learn and enjoy my lessons. My goal is to get to know my students on a personal level. I want to know how they think, how they learn, and what their interests are. That way, I can help them understand their strengths as well.I am an undergraduate student from the University of Denver, where I study Emergency Digital Practices. I intend to graduate from the university in two years. I also have an Associate degree from the Community College of Aurora.
